LIONS 1BK UPDATE--COMING FAST NOW. GET YOUR RSVP's IN
Jan-19-2025 |
District Team/Cabinet meeting is on Saturday, January 25 and features the District DrawDown!
One week from yesterday is our 3rd quarterly District Team/Cabinet meeting being hosted by the Lemont Lions Club at the Lemont VFW on 1/25 at 930am. Coffee and rolls in the morning, Call to Order at 10am. Lunch at noon. THEN we pull the tickets for the annual District DrawDown event - a kind of cash bash.
YOU can still RSVP to attend the meeting -- basically a big meet, greet and eat! And, all 1,800 district Lions are invited to come out and see what goes on and meet other Lions from around our district. Thank you to the Lemont Lions for hosting!! See attached meeting announcement. YOU can still buy tickets for the DrawDown event, in advance, or on site. If you cannot attend and would like a ticket(s), please let me know. Flyer is attached. ALSO, our big annual district Bowling Event is coming up on March 22nd. We are accepting signups now whether you are a full or partial team. We will match everyone up. However, the bowling is optional. This is a big meet, greet and eat and many Lions and guests attend to NOT bowl. The Morris Lions are hosting for us and there is plenty of FUN in this Fundraiser. This year, our goal is to sell out the whole bowling alley!!! See attached flyer/signup sheet. We have 59 Lions clubs and nearly 1,800 Lions in our district. I appreciate all of your support for each other and your district! Looking forward to seeing you at the district team meeting next Saturday and at Bowling event on March 22nd! Thank you very much for your continued support!! DG Tom #WeServe #1BKLions #SuperheroesForService #MakeYourMark

INFO for Lions Clubs & Lions Wishing to Provide California Wildfire Relief
Jan-14-2025 |
TO: LIONS CLUBS & LIONS Looking to Provide Aid to Those in Need That Have Been Devastated by the California Wildfires --------------------------------------------------------------------
The Lemont Lions Club has made contact with the Santa Monica- Pacific Palisades Lions Club (SM-PP).
https://e-clubhouse.org/sites/santamonica/contact.php?accept_google_terms=accepted
Their club Co-President Susan DeRemer has sent the following asking that donations be sent to their state Lions foundation:
https://californialionsfoundation.org
FROM LION CO-PRESIDENT SUSAN:
The Santa Monica Pacific Palisades Lions Club has setup a special fund for the Palisades Fire victims through the California Lions Foundation. All donations are tax-deductible, and 100% of the money will go towards emergency efforts. I will be working directly with the Pacific Palisades Community Council (PPCC) on determining the most immediate needs for Pacific Palisades and the surrounding affected areas.
Due to the extreme devastation of the area, the continuing fire, and the scattering of evacuated community members across Los Angeles County, the necessary needs assessment and details of the plan will take a few weeks to develop, but the PPSCC hopes to meet within the next couple of weeks. They are extremely grateful and It is our goal to make sure that funds are readily available when the action can be taken.
Donations by check can be made to the California Lions Foundation with the designation: SM-PP Lions Club - Palisades Fire Relief. They can be mailed to:
California Lions Foundation Attn: David Hedebrand, Treasurer 20231 Valley Boulevard--Suite E Tehachapi, CA 93561
We are in the process of setting up an online or Venmo type process as well, Those links will be on our website, Facebook and Instagram accounts when available. Susan Susan DeRemer Co-President Santa Monica Pacific Palisades Lions Club

LIONS BEWARE--EMAIL IMPERSONATION ATTACKS ARE STILL WITH US!
Dec-27-2024 |
LIONS BEWARE--EMAIL IMPERSONATION ATTACKS ARE STILL WITH US!
I've just received two messages from Lions who said they received an email from me that apparently looked suspicious. It seems to be the usual impersonation attack we've seen on district governors in the past. My email account was not hacked, but rather the bad guy has created a new fake email address with an email address that we do not use, and just added my name to it. So, please beware of all email you receive from me and anyone and be alert for red flags. Always carefully review the SENT-FROM and REPLY-TO email addresses so you now where a message came from and where a reply might go. If either one of those looks suspicious, stop, and call the person being impersonated directly to their known phone number to review.
Be careful out there!
Tom

LCIF Raffle Correction
Dec-11-2024 |
Dear Club Presidents,
There was a misprint on the LCIF Raffle order form that was mailed to you. District Governor Tom is hoping for all donations to go to LCIF's Environment Services Program to help the environment through a variety of conservation and restoration projects. All donations will be earmarked for LCIF's Environment Services Program. The form gave you a choice as to how you wanted your donation to be used. Hope this does not cause a problem for you.
The corrected Raffle order form is included.
Any questions, please call me.
PDG John Joseph Honiotes 1-BK LCIF Raffle Co-chair
